Visit of Castel Gandolfo, summer residence of the popes. Along the Appian Way we will cross such towns as Albano, Ariccia, Genzano. Break for lunch at Nemi, charming village on the homonym Lake, famous for strawberries and for the “ships” of emperor Caligula. Continuation to the vist of Frascati, with tasting of typical products (Casale Marchese), and visit at Villa Mondragone, one of the most important mansions of the Castelli Romani. Morning dedicated to the visit of di Villa d’Este, simple architectural lines palace built in ‘500 for cardinal Ippolito II d’Este, on an earlier Benedictine Monastery. The famous terraced garden slopes down to the “Valle Gaudente”, first example of Italian garden full of fountains and water games. Break for lunch. Guided tour of the main monuments of the city: the Duomo and the Baptistry, the Giotto’s Campanile (Bell Tower) and the Brunelleschi’s Dome, Piazza della Repubblica, Orsanmichele Church, originally built for the Granary market and then changed into the Church of the Arts. Continuation to the Ponte Vecchio (“Old Bridge”), the oldest bridge in the city.

Departure to Volterra, characteristic Medieval town, where you can still enjoy the atmosphere of an ancient town; visit of the Mura Duecentesche (13th Century Walls), of the ancient Church of Santa Maria and the contiguous Pratus Episcopatus, today Piazza dei Priori. Break for lunch. In the afternoon departure to San Galgano and visit of the famous Abbey and the Chapel with the “Sword in the Stone”. Return in the evening.

Nel pomeriggio visita alle famose Seterie di San Leucio, piccolo borgo legato alla figura di Ferdinando IV, che decise di utilizzare un casino di caccia come esperimento industriale e che vede come protagonista la manifattura della seta. Visita della zona del Santuario, costruito ai confini della terra si erge sulle rovine di un antico tempio dedicato alla dea Minerva. Sosta per il pranzo. Nel pomeriggio trasferimento a Gallipoli e visita dell’antica Kalepolis, “la città bella”, conosciuta per la bellezza del suo centro che sorge su di un’isola collegata alla terra ferma da un ponte. 2nd Day - MOLFETTA/BITONTO/BARI Goodmorning and breakfast at the hotel. Morning dedicated to Molfetta’s centres, with its famous old Duomo (the cathedral) on the sea, and Bitonto with the Romanesque size of its Cathedral. Break for lunch. Afternoon dedicated to the guided visit of di Bari: walk through the fascinating old Bari to discover its Cathedral, the Castle and the superb Church of San Nicola.
